  Universiti Tun Abdul Razak Signs MoA with Kolej Yayasan Melaka Back>  
 
 

April 30, 2008, Kelana Jaya ~ Universiti Tun Abdul Razak marked another milestone on its 10th anniversary by appointing Kolej Yayasan Melaka (KYM) as the university's Regional Center in Melaka. A memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed between the two institutions recently.

The MoA has embarked on an Education programme that has been initiated between the two institutions aimed at establishing a continuous effort in providing quality education in line with the university's goal. We also aim to promote internationalization through cooperation, establishment of collaborative networks and strategic alliances with our focused partners.

The auspicious signing ceremony was held at the Melaka Chief Minister's office in Melaka. Professor Datuk Dr. Md. Zabid Abd. Rashid, President and Vice Chancellor, signed on behalf of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak while Prof. Datuk Dr. Hajah Ramlah Adam, Rector of KYM signed on behalf of the college.

This signing event was witnessed by the Chief Minister of Melaka, Y.A.B. Datuk Seri Hj. Mohd. Ali bin Mohd. Rustam in the presence of other officials from both instituitions.

The partnership will specifically focus on two programmes, namely the Bachelor of Education (Hons) and Bachelor of English (Hons) and the students will be eligible for a study loan by the PTPTN to fund their study.

These programmes which have already received the approval from JPT and have been granted full accreditation by the Malaysian Qualifying Agency (MQA) are also recognized by JPA and they will be conducted through distance learning mode. This is to enable working adults to join in the programmes as the classes will be conducted during the weekends.

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Education degree can choose from six different areas of specializations which are commerce, economy, TESL, information technology, mathematics and counselling as for the Bachelor of English there will be only one specialization area which is in the field of language and linguistics. The first intake for these programmes will commence in July 2008.
